Kerala Road Trip Itinerary

A winter road-trip is the perfect way to explore the enchanting lagoons, tranquil canals and spicy plantations of Kerala's amazing cities.

Day 1: Cochin to Munnar (Distance – 119 kms, 4.5hrs drive).
Arrive at Cochin International Airport. Pick up car from Airport Parking and drive to Munnar. On the way enjoy the beautiful tea estates and numerous waterfalls.

Breakfast Suggestion: Port Muziris, Airport Road. Refreshment suggestion: Rangers Hotel, Adimali. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel/resort in Munnar.

Day 2: Munnar to Kumily (Distance – 100kms, 3 hrs drive)
Morning you can go for a nature walk with the naturalist on the plantations. After breakfast drive down to Kumily through the infamous Gap road. Stay at a boutique hotel located on the edge of Western Ghats from where you get a bird’s eye view of the plains of Tamil Nadu. Dinner and overnight stay at Resort/Hotel in Kumily.

Day 3: Kumily to Periyar Tiger Reserve (Distance-35 kms, 1.5hrs drive)
Today is the most unique experience of the trip. Stay is in the only plantation bungalow inside Periyar Tiger Reserve. The bungalow is mostly made of wood and has a stream passing nearby where you can take a dip listening to the forest calls. At night go for a jungle safari on their estate jeep. It is pretty sure you will find Wild Gaur or Sambar deer in that trip.

Bungalow care taker will meet you at Vandiperiyar Town (In front of Connemara Tea Factory Outlet) at 3.30 pm and you can drive down to the bungalow with him guiding you. (distance 21kms).

Lunch Suggestion: Spice Village- CGH Earth, Thekkady. Dinner and Overnight stay at Periyar Forest Bungalow and Night Jeep Safari.

Day 4: Drive to Kumarakom (Distance-129 kms, 5 hrs drive)
It is time to hit the infamous backwaters of Kerala. Post Lunch drive Kumarakom in the afternoon. Settle into your Kerala style Independent villa at one of the backwater resorts/hotels for dinner and stay.

Day 5: Leisure Day at Kumarakom
After breakfast enjoy Traditional House Boat Tour through the beautiful backwaters of Kerala.

Kerala Style Lunch made with fresh backwater fish will be served in the house boat. You can stop at local toddy shop along the Vembanad lake and try Toddy (Alcohol extracted from Coconut). Cruise will be from 12.00 pm to 4.00pm.

You can opt for massages at the hotel spa before or after the cruise. Dinner and overnight stay at Resort/Hotel in Kumarakom.

Day 6: Drive to Varkala (Distance-130kms, 5 hrs Drive)
After breakfast drive to Varkala Cliff. Varkala cliff is famous for its Goa vibe shacks and cafes.

Lunch Suggestion: Wyte Portico Hotel, Adoor

Day 7: Leisure Day at Varkala
6.00 am Start your day with early morning Surf lessons. Varkala beach is perfect for beginner level surf lessons.

Lunch and Dinner Suggestion: At any shacks on the 2km long Varkala cliff stretch.

Day 8: Last Day (Distance: 39 kms (1.30 hrs drive)
Check-out and Fly out of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Leave Car at the Airport Parking.

You can visit Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Inside Thiruvanathapuram City on the way to airport. Temple is open for Darshan from 5pm in the afternoon. Dress code is Dhoti for Men and Saree for Ladies.

If you want to grab lunch in Thiruvanathapuram City then Thakkaaram Restaurant Kazhakkoottam is a good choice.

• Any increase in taxes or fuel price, leading to increase in cost on surface transportation and land arrangements, which may come into effect prior to departure GST, insurance
• Anything which is not include in the inclusion.

• 75% refund up to 45 days before travel
• 50 % refund between 45 to 30 days before travel
• No refund less than 30 days before travel
