The Sandakphu Trek is an extraordinary adventure that takes you to one of West Bengal’s highest points. Covering approximately 55 kilometers over 7 days, this trek provides breathtaking views of some of the world’s tallest peaks, including Mount Everest, Kangchenjunga, Makalu, and Lhotse. The route meanders through the stunning Singalila National Park, renowned for its diverse flora and fauna. This park is also home to the elusive red panda, though spotting them can be quite rare.
Today’s trek takes you to Sandakphu, the highest point of the trek. The path includes some steep climbs, but the panoramic views from the summit are well worth the effort. On a clear day, you can see the majestic peaks of Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Machapuchhare, and the Annapurna range, including the Sleeping Buddha formation.
This day involves a steep descent of about 3,500 feet to Upper Sri Khola. The 17-kilometer trek will take around 6 to 7 hours. Upon arrival, stay in a homestay or hotel, and later attend a team briefing and closing ceremony.
