The Kareri Lake Trek is a beautiful 3D/2N journey to a glacial freshwater lake nestled in the Dhauladhar range at 10,500 feet. Ideal for those seeking a moderate trek with high-altitude beauty, this trek offers a rich experience through alpine forests of fir and oak, and vibrant rhododendron blooms. From Dharamshala, the trek leads you to the serene Kareri Lake, an untouched gem in Himachal Pradesh.
Arrive in Dharamshala early morning and drive 27 km to Kareri Village (approx. 1.5 hours). Check into your pre-booked homestay, enjoy a meal, and take an evening stroll around the village. Briefing session for the trek in the evening.
After an early breakfast, start the trek with a packed lunch. The route begins with a straight path, followed by a steep ascent alongside the Nyung River. Expect steady ascents and descents. Reach Kareri Lake, a beautiful, less commercialized location. Explore the nearby Gajj area and a small Shiva temple. Overnight camping by the lake.
Early morning visit to the Shiva temple, then return for breakfast. Trek back to Kareri Village , have lunch, and complete the closing ceremony. Drive back to Dharamshala.
