Upon arrival at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, you will be transferred to your hotel. After relaxing a bit, the exploration begins with a heritage walk through the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site which is famous for its stunning architecture and historic palaces.
Visit the Sabarmati Ashram, the former home of Mahatma Gandhi, where you can learn about his life and teachings. Explore the Jama Masjid and the intricate Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, known for its iconic tree symbol design. Wrap up the day with a traditional Gujarati thali at one of the city’s famous eateries.
Embark on a day trip to Patan, around 130 kilometres from Ahmedabad. The first attraction will be the Rani Ki Vav (the Queen’s Stepwell); an ancient UNESCO-listed architectural marvel decorated with intricate carvings.
Later, continue to the Sun Temple in Modhera, which is just a short drive away. Built in the 11th century, this temple is dedicated to the Sun God Surya and stands out for its grand entrance and artistic pillars. Return to Ahmedabad for an evening stroll along the Sabarmati Riverfront, before leaving for an overnight stay at the hotel.
After an early breakfast and check out, it's time for a scenic drive to Bhuj, a town with a rich history and cultural significance. On arrival, check into your hotel and rest briefly. After a while, we resume our exploration by visiting the Prag Mahal, an impressive palace built in the 19th-century and is known for its Gothic architecture.
Walk through the bustling village of Bhujodi and witness local artisans practising traditional crafts such as textile weaving and embroidery works. Conclude the day by exploring the vibrant markets filled with handicrafts, jewellery and artefacts.
The day begins early, as we head out for the Rann of Kutch, located about 85 kilometres from Bhuj. This massive salt desert transforms into a white, surreal landscape, especially at sunrise. Spend time exploring the area, then visit the nearby Kala Dungar to enjoy the panoramic views of the Great Rann as the sun goes down.
If you’re visiting during the Rann Utsav (November to February) you get to enjoy cultural performances, craft stalls and traditional food at the festival grounds. Return to Bhuj for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Embark on an early morning drive to Sasan Gir, home to the last remaining Asiatic lions. It is spread across a staggering 375 kilometres. After arriving and checking into your lodge, prepare for an afternoon safari at the Gir National Park. The park is not only famous for lions but also hosts diverse wildlife species, including leopards, antelopes and vivid bird species. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel, taking in the natural beauty and tranquillity of the forest.
Begin the day with a visit to the Somnath Temple, around 50 kilometres from Sasan Gir. This temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and boasts a magnificent sea-facing location. Next, head to Junagadh and explore the historic Uparkot Fort and the famous Ashoka’s Rock Edicts. In the evening, take the drive back to Ahmedabad for an evening stay.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, finish up with the check out process and you will be transferred to the airport for your scheduled flight back home.
