Known as ‘Chadar’ in Hindi, meaning a ‘blanket’ or ‘sheet’, the Zanskar River transforms into a white, icy spectacle during winter. The trek showcases stunning views of glassy ice, from bluish tinges to golden hues in sunlight and milky white under moonlight. This trek, which serves as a vital route for locals between Leh and Zanskar during harsh winters, has been used for centuries.

Fly to Leh (Altitude 11,400 ft.) and stay in a guest house. Acclimate to the temperature and altitude.
Walk around Leh Market and enjoy some sightseeing.
Visit SNM Hospital for a medical check-up and certification. Complete documentation for insurance and secure wildlife permits.
Drive 65 km along the picturesque Indus River to Tilad Do (Altitude 10,390 ft.). After a final briefing, trek 10-12 km to Gyalpo (Altitude 10,550 ft.). Enjoy the scenic campsite surrounded by high peaks and rock faces.
Trek 15 km through the deep ravines of the Zanskar River (Altitude 10,550 to 10,760 ft.). Stay in a tent near the porters' cave.
Trek 12.5 km to Naerak Camp (Altitude 11,150 ft.), crossing deep gorges and viewing the iconic frozen waterfall. Optionally, trek to Naerak village.
Trek 12.5 km back to Tibb Cave. Notice the constantly changing landscape of the Chadar.
Trek 15 km from Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma, then drive 65 km back to Leh. Stay in a guest house.
