Day 01 Arrival in Guwahati

Distance: 2,400 km

 Flight Time: 2 hr 30 min

Upon arrival in Guwahati, the journey begins with a scenic drive to Bhalukpong, located about 240 kilometres away. En route, enjoy the scenic views of the Brahmaputra River and Assam’s lush tea estates. Bhalukpong serves as a gateway to Arunachal and is set along the banks of the Kameng River and offers a serene introduction to the region. 

After a day full of exploration, check into your guesthouse, enjoy a local dinner and relax for the evening.

Day 02 Bhalukpong to Dirang

After an early breakfast, hop on a road trip from Bhalukpong to Dirang, a journey of about 140 kilometres. On the way, stop by the Tipi Orchidarium, home to a fascinating and vivid collection of over 1,000 species of orchids. Continue to drive through dense forests, steep valleys and breathtaking mountain views. 

After reaching, explore Dirang Dzong, a historical old fortress and monastery showcasing traditional Monpa architecture. End the day with a visit to Dirang’s hot springs, popular for their healing properties, before checking into a homestay for the night.

Day 03 Dirang to Tawang

Depart early for Tawang, a rough drive of approximately 135 kilometres through stunning landscapes. En route, cross the iconic Sela Pass which is situated at an altitude of 13,700 feet, and marvel at the breathtaking views of the snow covered mountains. 

Stop by the Sela Lake, famously known for its surreal beauty. Later, visit the JaswantGarh War Memorial, and pay tribute to Indian soldiers who bravely fought in the 1962 IndoChina war. Arrive in Tawang by evening, settle in at your hotel and enjoy a warm meal followed by a much required rest.

Day 04 Tawang Monastery and Local Sightseeing

Start your day with a visit to the famous Tawang Monastery, the largest monastery in India and one of the oldest in Asia. The monastery is home to more than 300 monks and overlooks the Tawang River Valley. Explore the monastery’s ancient scriptures, beautiful murals, and the massive Buddha statue. 

Afterward, visit the Tawang War Memorial, dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 war. Spend the evening exploring Tawang’s local markets, where you can shop for handmade crafts, prayer flags and Tibetan artefacts.

Day 05 Tawang to Bomdila

Depart from Tawang and head toward Bomdila, a serene destination with abundance of nature. En route, stop at the scenic Nuranang Falls (also known as Jung Falls) This hidden gem is a spectacular 100 metre waterfall amidst lush greenery, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and people seeking a peaceful break.

Upon reaching Bomdila, Check in at a local homestay, then visit the Bomdila Monastery and the local crafts centre, which showcases traditional handicrafts of the Monpa community.

Day 06 Return to Guwahati via Bhalukpong

After breakfast, start your journey back to Guwahati via Bhalukpong. Enjoy the scenery as you pass through dense forests, rivers and quaint valleys. Arrive in Guwahati by evening, where you can relax or explore local attractions if time permits. 

The journey comes to an end with memories of Arunachal Pradesh’s spectacular landscapes, warm hospitality, and rich cultural heritage. You will be transferred to the airport, where you will board a return flight back home.
