Your Har Ki Dun Trek begins with an early morning drive from Dehradun to Sankri, a quaint village that serves as the base for this trek. After a full day of travel, you’ll arrive at Sankri, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse. In the evening, there will be a team briefing where you’ll get to know your fellow trekkers and go over the details of the trek.
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll drive to Taluka, the starting point of your trek. From here, the trail follows the Rupin Nala, winding through forests and small villages. The trek to Gangaad is a moderate one, taking you through lush landscapes with the sound of the river as your constant companion. Gangaad, where you’ll camp for the night, offers basic homestays and a chance to experience local hospitality.
Today's trek is a scenic journey through meadows, forests, and across streams. You’ll pass through the village of Seema and catch a glimpse of Osla village perched on the opposite ridge. The trail then leads you into the Har Ki Dun Valley, with the river now on your right. Depending on water availability, you’ll either camp at Kalkatiya Dhar or continue a bit further to Seematra.
An early start today will take you deeper into the Har Ki Dun Valley. The trail offers mesmerizing views of snow-capped peaks and cascading waterfalls. In winter, the frozen waterfalls add a touch of magic to the landscape. After a steady ascent, you’ll reach the Har Ki Dun campsite, surrounded by towering peaks and lush meadows.
Today is an exploration day. For a short hike, you can trek to the beautiful Maninda Taal, located on the left ridge of the valley. This serene lake offers stunning reflections of the surrounding peaks. For those seeking a more challenging adventure, the trek to Jaundhar Glacier on the right side of the valley is an option. This trek is longer and more strenuous, so it’s recommended to start early and be prepared for a full day of trekking.
Retrace your steps from Har Ki Dun to Osla, the largest village on the trek. This descent is long but rewarding, offering plenty of opportunities to take in the beauty of the valley. Osla is known for its ancient temple dedicated to Someshwar Devta, believed to date back to the Pandava era. The village's rich cultural heritage and unique wooden architecture make it a fascinating place to explore.
The final day of your trek takes you from Osla back to Taluka, where a vehicle will be waiting to drive you to Sankri. The descent is relatively easy, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and reflect on your journey. Once back in Sankri, you can relax and celebrate the completion of your trek.
After breakfast, you’ll begin the drive back to Dehradun, where the trek officially ends. You’ll have the option to explore Dehradun or head straight to the railway station for your onward journey.
